I bought 08'f350 s/c on oct.18 and currently have 1200miles on it.I drive 8 miles each way to work, but the last two weeks white smoke has been bellowing out of the tail pipe at the exact place during my ride in too work.The heavy white smoke last 4-5 seconds then lightens up a bit(20 seconds)...

Every now and then during start up I get white smoke from the exhaust. Mechanic said not to worry but I find it unsettling when it happens. Anything that can be done or is that the nature of the beast.
Nov 02, 2016 · i have a 1999 7.3 f250 in 45 degree weather and colder, after sitting for 6 hours or more when not plugged in. it take a while for the car to start up and then when it does a lot of white smoke comes out of the exhaust but then shortly stops.

the deeper tone could be from the DPF regen, may be where the white smoke is coming from as well, but can't be certain, also is the white smoke only when cold? as mines does tend to have a load of white smoke until the exhaust has warmed up due to condensation building in the pipes overnight when its cooling down.
When white smoke occurs at cold start, and then disappears as the engine warms up, the most common causes are fouling deposits around piston rings and/or cylinder glazing. There is NO smoke during idle, acceleration or anything, other than cold starts. It has recently been very hot and humid here in S. Georgia with temps anywhere from 90 to 95 degrees daily, so this is not the "cold weather" white smoke that I've read about.

Same as you, idles fine, no smoke, but once accelerating, there are billows coming out the exhaust.
